OpenWriter has 6 compose views. Each optimizes the editor for a specific content format.

Document

The default view. Full rich text editing with all formatting options. Write anything — notes, chapters, blog drafts, documentation.

Tweet

Write tweets and threads for X/Twitter:

  • Split threads at --- separators
  • 280-character validation per tweet
  • Up to 4 images per tweet
  • Reply and quote tweet variants, with a target URL you can change mid-draft
  • Visual thread preview
  • Post natively to X, including quote tweets

Article

Write long-form X Articles:

  • Cover image and byline
  • Character warnings for title and description
  • Post to X button for native X Articles

Blog

Write blog posts with structured metadata:

  • Title, description, tags, author, slug, date
  • Draft toggle
  • Cover image
  • Publish to GitHub for CI/CD blog rebuilds; frontmatter is checked against your site’s schema first
  • Republish once live, with a link to the published post

Newsletter

Write email newsletters:

  • Subject line and preview text
  • WYSIWYG email preview

Manuscript

Compile a whole book from your chapter docs without merging them:
